You can use a simple Symbian Application known as Dukto to transfer files through WLAN. The application is multi-platform, it means that it works on almost all of the platforms including Linux, Mac or windows. I personally love this app it is very flexible to transfer file from my office PC to my phone, it is very much helpful in transferring files from your Symbian device to the computer and vice versa. You will need a Dukto client installed on your computer which has about 3MB file size. Install that and open your Dukto app on your Symbian s60 device and you are ready to go.

LAN File Transfer

Dukto is very much helpful to make the wireless transfer much easier and faster. The speed of the Dukto transfer relies much on the speed of the device's flash storage. These are some known issues for the Dukto in my personal experience, I will explain some:

IMPORTANT NOTES:

(1)  Change the Folder Path on Dukto


Most of the symbian handsets have small internal memory capacity. The default file path is saved to the phone memory. The problem is that since all the files in the phone memory are not directly viewable, we are not able to view those files. Change the default file path by going to:

Options > Change Folder > {Select a Folder in the Memory Card (E:\)}.

(2)  Exit Dukto When Not in Use

Dukto is not password protected and if the app is left unclosed, any system running the Dukto application can send files to our handset, which is not a safe practice.

If you follow these simple steps, you are able to receive the best WLAN file transfer for Symbian device.
